Having been around since the early 1960s, the Chevrolet Malibu is one of the most well-known vehicles in the U.S. Having gone through many transformations throughout the years, its ninth generation is a sleek and modern sedan.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
This midsize five-seat four-door sedan is available in five different trims: L, LS, RS, LT, and Premier. The 2020 Malibu is a gorgeous and good looking sedan in any trim, with even the standard trim having stylish features such as a black grille with chrome accents, and body-colored front and rear bumpers. Higher trims bring even more visual elements, like chrome door handles, a rear lip spoiler, power door mirrors with heating, and elegant metallic paint.
Engine (Power)
The 2020 Chevrolet Malibu has two available engine options. The base engine is a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 that's capable of producing up to 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, helped by a smooth continuously variable transmission. While this power output should be enough to satisfy the needs of most Malibu drivers, those who feel they need even more power can opt for the second engine option, a powerful inline-4 2.0-liter engine with up to 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. All this power is transmitted down to the wheels with the help of a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
When equipped with the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu manages to reach a speed of 60 miles per hour from a complete standstill in 8.5 seconds, a respectable time for a car that excels in comfort and agility. Braking performance is exceptional, with the Malibu only needing 113 feet to come to a complete halt from a speed of 60 miles per hour. Overall, the base engine is just what you need for everyday drives, while the second engine option turns the Malibu into a sporty sedan.
Interior
The 2020 Chevrolet Malibu's interior is a mix of elegance and functionality. Features such as keyless entry and ignition, power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a crisp-sounding nine-speaker sound system add to overall comfort levels, while the excellent insulation and special noise-reducing glass manage to keep most road and wind noises out of the cabin.
The interior technology is fit for a 2020 model, with a standard 8-inch touch screen interface helping the driver control all infotainment functions. Physical buttons and knobs are also available, keeping the driver's eyes firmly on the road at all times. Safety Features
The 2020 Chevrolet Malibu is equipped with excellent active and passive safety features, keeping everyone inside as safe as possible. The forward collision alert system warns the driver of any potential hazards ahead and even applies the brakes when needed, the rear cross-traffic alert notifies the driver about any motion behind the car while it's in reverse, while the pedestrian detection system identifies pedestrians and automatically applies the brakes if the driver doesn't do so first.
