The Chevy Colorado is a capable mid-size truck that provides drivers with a practical everyday driver and a vehicle that can get the job done. For the 2021 model year, Chevrolet gave the rugged ZR2 model an even more aggressive style that includes red tow hooks and an optional Sand Dune metallic paint color, and the rest of the lineup remains mostly the same. Here is a look at the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2021 Colorado comes in the base Work Truck, the LT, the Z71, and the ZR2. The lineup starts with 16-inch wheels and a CornerStep rear bumper. The LT adds 17-inch wheels, a remote locking tailgate, and body-color door handles. Choose the sporty Z71 for an off-road suspension, all-terrain tires, and hill-descent control, or the ZR2 adds an upgraded off-road suspension, skid plates, and tow hooks. The ZR2 also adds LED daytime running lights, larger all-terrain tires, fender flares, a spray-in bed liner, and upgraded front and rear bumpers.
Engine (Power)
The base engine for the Colorado Work Truck is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine with 200 horsepower. When you need more power, a 3.6-liter V-6 gas engine that develops 308 horsepower is an available option, or you can get the 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine with 186 horsepower. This Duramax diesel engine is smooth, powerful, offers excellent fuel economy, and has a smart diesel exhaust brake that helps the driver stay in control while keeping brake wear to a minimum.
Performance
The 2021 Colorado is an easy truck to drive. It offers a smooth ride over any road, even when the pavement gets rough, and it's maneuverable in parking garages and crowded urban streets. When equipped with the tow package and the turbodiesel engine, it can tow up to 7,700 pounds, and with the V-6, it can handle up to 7,000. The Z71 and ZR2 have specialty features that make them both extremely capable of tackling off-road terrain.
Interior
The Colorado's larger cabs can fit up to five people with comfortable seats in both rows. Cloth upholstery comes standard in the lower trims with heated front seats added to the LT, which also gets the option for a power-adjustable driver's seat. The LT also adds a leather-wrapped and tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Leather upholstery is an available option depending on the trim.
Standard technology features start with a 7-inch touch screen, Chevrolet infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto, two USB ports, a six-speaker stereo. GM's OnStar telematics system with a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot is optional for the Work Truck and standard in the rest of the Colorado trims, which also get an 8-inch touch screen and extra USB ports.
Safety Features
All of the 2021 Colorado models come standard with a rearview camera and the Teen Driver System that allows parents to set specific parameters and monitor their kids when driving. A rear parking assist feature is available for all models, and there is an additional Safety Package for the LT and Z71 trims. This package comes with forward collision warning and lane departure warning.
