The Local Park

The park is a 218-acre lake where visitors can enjoy outdoor volleyball courts, a miniature train, camping, rowboat rental, boating, fishing, and more. Along with activities for adults, there are plenty of things for kids to do as well, such as three playgrounds, an ice cream parlor, and an all-new miniature golf course. Some activities at the park, such as the train, carousel, camping, boat rentals, and a few others require a small fee to participate. Burke Farmer's Market

Burke's Station

During the war, Burke's Station served an essential purpose. Wood was considered a commodity, especially for the repair and construction of railroads. To facilitate the need for large amounts of wood for the Union army, former slaves cut down thousands of acres of forests. These individuals risked their freedom to help the campaign. At Burke's Station, you can learn more about the history of this area and the heroic steps that many took during this perilous time.

Fountainhead Regional Park

At Fountainhead Regional Park, you can enjoy amazing views of the Occoquan, which offers amazing boating and fishing, mountain biking, and offers access to the Bull Run-Occoquan Trail. Then, you need to follow the asphalt trail south until you reach the trail over Accotink Creek. Bear left, and you can access Wakefield Park or Lake Accotink Park. Lake Royal Trail You also can't go wrong with enjoying a scenic 1.8-mile hike at Lake Royal Trail. This trail is suitable for dog walking, and it is quick and easy enough to be kid-friendly. The average person will complete this beautiful loop trail in 34 minutes. However, traversing this trail can easily take longer, especially if you are into birding or wildlife watching. There are many bird species you can spot here, including geese, eagles, and several types of songbirds. There are also other animals that you may see if you keep your eyes peeled. Located at 9712 Barlow Road, this park is a 2.1 km trail that's fantastic for hiking, running, and walking. There's plenty of shade thanks to the surrounding trees, and with its peace and tranquility, it provides an escape from the daily grind of the working week. It isn't a sanctuary for humans alone, either. It's also a haven for various wildlife, such as deer, foxes, squirrels, and many varieties of native birds. There is also a picnic pavilion where you can eat comfortably and a play area where the children can play safely while you watch from nearby. Bon Air Park This vast 24-acre park can be found at 850 N Lexington Street and is home to a charming memorial rose garden that was founded by Nelly Broyhill in 1939 to pay tribute to local World War II veterans. Other amenities include play areas, basketball courts, a gazebo, and a picnic area with access to charcoal grills. Frying Pan Farm Park The Frying Pan, located at 2739 West Ox Road, brings farm life from the 1920s to the 1950s into the modern-day world.
