2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray in Fairfax, VA - Jim McKay ChevroletBoasting a radical redesign with a new mid-engine layout, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has been named Motortrend’s Car of the Year for 2020. The Corvette Stingray is available in either a coupe or convertible body shape and features three trim levels: 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT. This mid-engine, two-door sports car offers a state-of-the-art aerodynamic design, impressive power and acceleration, loads of modern tech — and all at a relatively affordable price. Here is some information on this attractive and powerful sports car.

Superior Performance

With the Stingray comes a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that’s paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission to make an impressive 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. This engine will give you great on-track performance; however, the Stingray also provides a smooth drive on the road and is a practical day-to-day vehicle. With the standard Driver Mode Selector, you can customize your drive performance, with the system allowing for up to 12 electronically calibrated performance variables.

If you want even better performance from your Stingray, opt for the Z51 Performance package that bumps up the power to 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque due to a performance exhaust system. The package also adds a heavy-duty cooling system, upgraded tires, adaptive suspension dampers, and an electronic limited-slip differential.

Well-Equipped Interior

The interior of the 2020 Stingray is upscale, featuring quality materials throughout. The new design also now features a front cargo area that can fit an airline-sized overhead bag, while the trunk can either hold two golf bags or the removable roof panel. Standard interior features include leather seats, keyless entry, push-button start, a rearview camera, automatic climate control, cruise control, rear parking sensors, and a leather steering wheel.

The two higher trims offer features like an electro-chromatic rearview mirror, a heated steering wheel, a front parking system, heated and ventilated seats, a head-up display, upgraded seats, and more interior color choices. With the 2LT trim also comes a Performance Data Recorder, which you can use to record videos of your laps and performance information like your steering angle and g-force.

The standard infotainment features Bluetooth, satellite radio, an 8-inch display, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility, and a 10-speaker Bose audio system. Available features include a 14-speaker audio system, navigation, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi.

Exciting Design

The mid-engine configuration of the 2020 Stingray provides improved visibility and a responsive drive. The rear placement of the engine means that more power is directed to the rear wheels, while the windshield over the front wheels provides improved downforce. The hidden door handles and hatch and hood releases, further enhance the aerodynamic design of the Stingray. Standard exterior features include ultra-light 19-inch front and 30-inch rear wheels, LED headlights, daytime running lights, and power-folding and heated mirrors with turn-signal indicators.

The Stingray is the first-ever production that features a retractable hardtop, which can be had in either body-color or Carbon Flash. You can activate this two-piece hardtop at a speed of up to 30 mph — and with the top down, the Stingray will still give you stellar performance.

The 2020 Stingray doesn’t only offer great on-track performance but is also a practical day-to-day drive. If you want to take one for a spin, drop by Jim McKay Chevrolet.
