Burke’s Station

During the war, Burke’s Station served an essential purpose. Wood was considered a commodity, especially for the repair and construction of railroads.  To facilitate the need for large amounts of wood for the Union army, former slaves cut down thousands of acres of forests. These individuals risked their freedom to help the campaign. At Burke’s Station, you can learn more about the history of this area and the heroic steps that many took during this perilous time.

Fountainhead Regional Park

At Fountainhead Regional Park, you can enjoy amazing views of the Occoquan, which offers amazing boating and fishing, mountain biking, and offers access to the Bull Run-Occoquan Trail. While here, you can rent boats or kayaks or go on guided tours. However, that is not all. Here you can also find a marina building offering food and drinks, a miniature golf course, and you can even get your fishing license.
