The venerable Tahoe is back, and the new styling looks great. The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is a workhorse of a vehicle with a powerful engine, plenty of creature comforts, and versatile enough for just about any lifestyle.
The 2021 Tahoe is the 12th-generation of the classic Suburban SUV, and it’s loaded with new features as well as keeping with most of the old favorites Chevrolet drivers have come to expect. In styling, it represents probably the most drastic change for a new model of any Chevrolet since the Bel Air. The new direction is one that Chevrolet owners can get excited about.
View from the Street
The new look of the Tahoe line is totally new, modern, and stylish.
It also serves as a base that unlike most vehicles, readily takes on different personalities with different colors. In black it looks like something a secret agent might drive, while the white models showcase a domesticated look, and there’s everything in-between. Choose your color to fit your individual taste.
Pricing
The base package for the Tahoe sits just over $55,000. We think this is one of those instances where you are getting a whole lot of bang for your buck, especially after considering the power plant, amenities, and other features that are rolled up into the new Chevrolet.
Adding more features will, of course, bring that price up higher, but it still remains a whole lot of truck for the money. With six trim kits to choose from, there are a lot of options to explore, from the backwoods ready Z71 to the RST with black trim.
Engine and Drivetrain
Looking under the hood, the base model sports a powerful 355HP EcoTec3 engine. The 5.3L V8 provides all the power you need to charge up steep hills even when loaded down with gear. It’s more than enough to keep up with the towing capacity of over 7500 pounds.
Take a Peek Inside
All the knobs and levers are pretty much where you left them. There have been some changes from the driver’s seat, but if you’ve driven a similar Chevrolet in the past, you’ll know where to find everything. If you haven’t, the intuitive design will become second-nature quickly.
The biggest change to the interior is more space available. More legroom, more headroom, more everything. Mid and rear seating is fully adjustable to accommodate any extra room that you might need on your trip, and plenty of seating to haul the whole family to the game.
In addition, all of the modern safety features are present, including backup camera, warning alerts if another vehicle is approaching while you are backing out of your parking spot, smartphone integration, and rear seat media. The infotainment system is a monolithic structure built right into the dash that serves as a cockpit-style command center with large touch buttons and within easy reach.
All in all, the best way to get a feel for the styling and features of the new Tahoe is to give one a test drive. Don’t wait for them to disappear. Drop in and see us at Jim McKay Chevrolet in the DMV area and arrange a more personal introduction with the latest Chevrolet SUV.
