2020 Chevrolet Equinox in Fairfax, VA - Jim McKay ChevroletThe Equinox is the sole compact crossover SUV in Chevrolet’s lineup. As such, it’s also one of the most popular on the market. Chevrolet doesn’t rest on its laurels, however. It has built upon the Equinox’s spacious interior, trendy look, and high safety ratings to elevate the SUV even more in the coming model years. Discover how Chevrolet has improved the 2020 Equinox.

A Sporty New Trim

Chevrolet is giving all 2021 and 2022 Equinox models a more aggressive exterior look. The SUV will get new front and rear fascias and bumpers, eye-catching headlights, and a new grille. The top-level Premier trim will gain particularly luxurious upgrades, such as 19-inch machined-face wheels, a special chrome grille, LED headlights and taillights, and a logo-projecting tailgate.

The most exciting update, however, is the Equinox’s new trim for 2021. The RS — a popular existing trim on many of Chevrolet’s other vehicles — will be a sportier-looking version of the current model, with stylish features such as 19-inch dark alloy wheels, a glossy black grille, black badging, black side rails, quad exhaust tips, and black exterior trim. On the inside, the RS will have black upholstery, red stitching, and a stylish shift knob unique to the trim.

Exciting Appearance Packages

Drivers will be able to further customize their Equinox with two new appearance packages: the Midnight Edition and the Redline Edition. The Midnight is geared toward drivers who love the sleek, classy look of an all-black vehicle. With this package, the Equinox gains Mosaic Black Metallic paint, 19-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels, a black mesh grille, black rear and front emblems, a dark fog light finish, and black leather seats. It’s only available on the second-highest LT trim.

The Redline Edition adds bold and street-savvy touches inside and out. These include 19-inch black wheels with red accents and all-season blackwall tires, black front and rear emblems, special black and red badging, a unique black grille, black mirror caps, and black window surround. It’s only available on the Premier trim.

Standard Driver Safety Features

As of 2020, all Equinox trims come standard with Chevrolet’s Safety Assist suite of advanced safety technologies, including six air bags, a rear-vision camera, forward-collision warning, automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking, following distance indicator, front pedestrian braking, lane-keeping assist, and lane-departure warning. Available features include a surround-vision camera system, rear cross-traffic assist, camera-based adaptive cruise control, automatic parking assist, front and rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and a safety alert seat. Parents will appreciate teen driver technology that sets speed alerts, seat belt warnings, and stereo volume limits. This technology also tracks young drivers’ performance behind the wheel and delivers reports.

All of these safety features improve upon an already award-winning vehicle. The 2020 Equinox was named a top safety pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earned a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
