Engine, Transmission, and Drivetrain
Power and reliability are an important part of any vehicle. When you pop the hood of an Equinox, you’ll see its 1.5L 4-cyl turbo engine. The Equinox has four trim levels, and all use this advanced, fuel-efficient engine that pushes out 175HP. Power is only one part of the driving experience, and this engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission to translate this power into smooth and responsive handling and control.
The Equinox is standard with front-wheel drive (FWD), but you can also choose the all-wheel drive (AWD) with any trim option. If you want to spend time off-road, the AWD option is a good choice for you.
Fuel Economy
Chevrolet engines have a reputation for fuel efficiency, and the Equinox lives up to this reputation. The FWD version provides 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Choosing the AWD drivetrain provides only a slight reduction to 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
Interior Features
Space can be at a premium in a compact SUV, but the Equinox provides enough space for front and rear passengers to relax in comfort. There are a host of additional features for the LS and LT trims, which are standard on the RS and Premier trims. Some of these features include heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a power liftgate.
Infotainment
The standard touchscreen is 7.0″ HD, but you can increase it to an 8.0″ HD version. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as are Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The driver information center is standard as a 3.5″ rectangular monochrome display on the LS trim. If you’d like even more, you can easily upgrade to the 4.2″ multicolor display. The 4.2″ display is standard on the three other trims.
A six-speaker sound system is standard, and it’s upgradable to a seven-speaker Bose premier system on the RS and Premier trims.
Safety Features
Standard safety features across all trims include a rear vision camera, lane keep assistance and lane departure warning. Additional standard systems include an electronic stability control and traction system, a teen driver system, and a tire pressure monitoring system. You can add a variety of additional systems, including a lane change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking assist.
